The AM-licence car is likened to a moped. It is a light quadricycle, also called a buggy or licence-free car.
It has the following technical characteristics:
Since 1 January 2017, the operating weight when empty is restricted to 425 kg
Diesel or electric engine limited to 6 kW
Number of seats limited to 2 people
To be able to drive an AM-licence car in France, you must:
The AM-licence vehicle is a permanent or temporary mobility solution for people who do not have the full driving licence:
Teenagers above the age of 14*
People who have had their licence removed or suspended. If they have not been banned from driving a motor vehicle by a judge, they can drive a light quadricycle under the same conditions as those mentioned in the previous paragraph.
People who have never had the B licence
For all of these people, the AM-licence vehicle range can be purchased or rented.
